About FeatherSticks

FeatherSticks is a free, structured guide to bushcraft. Instead of scattered tips, every skill has its place in a knowledge tree: seven pillars — fire, shelter, water, cooking, tools, skills and gear — each broken down into focused topics that build on one another. You always know what to learn next and how it connects to the rest.

How we teach

Every guide follows the same clear structure: a short introduction, key facts at a glance, numbered steps, a comparison table, the most common mistakes and the gear you need. Schematics show the technique rather than just describing it, and short videos sum up each skill in under a minute so you can refresh it before a trip.

Our interactive planners, such as the Kit Builder, turn that knowledge into something practical: choose your trip length, season and shelter, and get a complete packing list with estimated weights.

Safety first

Bushcraft involves sharp tools, fire and changing weather. Our guides are written to be practically accurate and conservative on safety, but they cannot replace hands-on training, good judgement or local knowledge. Practise new skills close to home first, tell someone where you are going and carry a first aid kit.

Leave No Trace

We love the forest and want it to stay wild. Respect local laws on fires, camping and collecting wood, use existing fire sites where possible, never cut live trees and take all your rubbish home. Leave every place as you found it — or better.
